Your guy is tall, dark and handsome, but his idea of romance involves a remote control and a case of Budweiser. What’s a gal to do?

By Sarah Bernier

FLYP’s Sarah Bernier, aka Dr. Love, is in the house to find out the ins and outs of modern romance. Watch the video of her speaking with couples on their ideas of romance, and how they keep the spark alive.

One for the ladies: Take the test to find out how much romance you have running through your system.

Guys, are you romantic? Take the test to learn just how romantic your gestures are, and how you can build more romantic relationships.
For the Romantically Challenged

Symptom

You are crazy about your lady but just not sure how to express it. You love her smooth brown hair and her big blue eyes, but you’re tongue-tied and awkward. She asks what you’re thinking and you clear your throat and explain in great detail the physical and psychological pros and cons of the different Batmans over the years. Those beautiful baby blues glaze over and she begins filing her nails.

Prescription

Listen, listen, LISTEN! Your lady is sniffing around for some old-fashioned affection. If you’re not a wordsmith, pull her close to you and just hold her. Give her an unexpected passionate kiss as she washes the dishes. Write her a note if you’re not a big talker—but let her know. Your lady’s joy does not have to be a mystery: talk to her, Sherlock! Ask her what she needs at that moment.

Prognosis

Contrary to “romantic” stereotypes, most girls aren’t interested in sappy love sonnets. Think about who your girlfriend is and what is important to her. Is she addicted to celebrity gossip? Pick up a copy of the latest US Weekly and leave it in her purse. She will think you are the sweetest, most thoughtful boyfriend ever. For most people, romance is found in the little things, like a bag of M&M’s.
