Sculptures made of canned goods offer more than just aesthetic enjoyment—they are small steps in the effort to eradicate hunger.

About Canstruction
Backed by the Society for Design Administration, the Canstruction charity organization brings together architects and engineers to teach students the tricks of their trades by helping them building monster sculptures made entirely out of cans of food.
Local teams from Vancouver and San Diego to New York City and Halifax are charged with building structures that defy gravity, logic and expectations. Their designs are then judged using strict criteria that includes categories like “best use of labels“ and “structural ingenuity.”
At the close of each exhibition, the sculptures are dismantled, and all of the canned food is donated to local food banks to aid in the fight against hunger.
Since its modest beginning in 1992, the organization has donated 10 million pounds of food in its goal to change the world…one can at a time.

Explore the images of various projects from the Canstruction challenges, all of which are imaginative takes on the challenge of eradicating hunger.
